KTC, the World’s No. 1 Testing Certification Institute Leading the Way to the 4th Industrial Revolution
The Korean Testing Certification Institute (President Sungil Ahn, hereafter KTC) announced on the 26th that it has completed the development of the ‘TrustAI Certification Service’ based on international standards and will begin providing AI performance, quality, reliability, and security testing and certification services to domestic companies.
According to KTC, as generative AI and industrial AI technologies rapidly spread across various sectors, concerns about risks such as data bias, malfunctions, and security threats are increasing.
In this regard, the Korean government implemented the world's first ‘Basic Act on the Promotion and Foundation of Trust for Artificial Intelligence’ (AI Basic Act) in January. Similarly, the European Union (EU) has also prepared the ‘AI Act’, and with AI regulation now accelerating both domestically and internationally, there is a growing demand for international standard-based assessments to secure the reliability and safety of AI systems in the global market.
To address this, KTC has developed and officially launched the ‘TrustAI Certification Service’ to support the reliability of AI products and services developed by Korean companies, conducting comprehensive testing and evaluation throughout the entire AI technology cycle—including design, development, verification, and deployment—based on international standards.
The ‘TrustAI Certification Service’ is characterized by its comprehensive evaluation of the core aspects of AI, such as performance, quality, reliability, security, and risk management.
Specifically, it includes AI performance evaluation (machine learning classification performance) based on ISO/IEC TS 4213, AI quality evaluation based on ISO/IEC TS 25058 and 25059, AI reliability evaluation based on ISO/IEC TR 24028, and AI safety and risk assessment based on ISO/IEC 23894.
Unlike function-focused evaluations, KTC’s approach is distinguished by its integrated verification of safety, quality, reliability, and risk management requirements demanded at actual industrial sites, providing a full lifecycle evaluation system for AI technology.
In addition, KTC plans to link the existing GS certification and AI reliability and quality verification systems it has developed, and to further enhance the expertise of the ‘TrustAI Certification Service’ in the field of Physical AI using its hardware testing capabilities.
By verifying the performance of AI systems used in diverse industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, mobility, smart home appliances, and industrial automation, KTC aims to support the widespread adoption of AI technology across industries and foster a sound AI ecosystem.
Furthermore, KTC plans to help domestic AI companies secure quality levels and technological capabilities that comply with international standards through the ‘TrustAI Certification Service,’ and to strengthen their ability to respond to AI regulations by collaborating with global testing and certification bodies, thereby contributing to enhancing global regulation response and competitiveness for domestic AI companies.
President Sungil Ahn stated, “As next-generation AI technologies such as Physical AI and Agentic AI spread rapidly beyond generative AI, securing the reliability and safety of AI systems has become more important than ever. KTC will actively support domestic companies in developing competitive AI products for the global market through the internationally standardized ‘TrustAI Certification Service’.”
