KTC, the World’s No. 1 Testing Certification Institute Leading the Way to the 4th Industrial Revolution
Korea Testing Certification institute (KTC) and the Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP) announced on June 7th that they have signed an MOU to support the technological and competitive enhancement of companies in the digital transformation field.
The two organizations have committed to collaborating in areas such as reliability assessment, testing, and certification support for companies in strategic technological fields such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, 5G/6G, cybersecurity, metaverse, and defense ICT. KTC will provide a 10% reduction in testing and inspection fees for the results of R&D conducted by IITP's R&D execution agencies. Additionally, KTC will support these companies throughout the entire process, including R&D support, product development, technical support for overseas exports, and testing and certification information.
In the era of digital transformation, companies are striving to create new business models by redefining their missions. According to market research firm P&S Intelligence, the global digital transformation market is projected to reach $1.69 trillion by 2030. Meanwhile, the Korean IDC, an IT market analysis and consulting institution, predicts that domestic companies' expenditure on digital transformation will increase by 17-18% annually until 2024. Thus, digital transformation has become a necessity rather than a choice for companies. However, with the tightening of international trade regulations, such as the mandatory certification of IoT cybersecurity in Europe, companies require prompt support to enhance their competitiveness in the global market.
To address this, KTC supports testing and certification for the overseas expansion of domestic companies in digital transformation-related fields. By establishing business partnerships with 58 testing and certification organizations in 34 countries, Korean companies can obtain international certifications using KTC's test reports, thereby reducing acquisition time and costs. This assistance helps companies focus on developing their R&D capabilities.
As one of its priority strategic areas, KTC is actively promoting digital transformation and is the only testing and certification institution in Korea that operates information and communication units at its headquarters. It provides services such as information protection evaluations (CC evaluations), software quality certifications (GS certifications), and information security certifications for IoT devices (IoT security). Recently, it was designated as a cybersecurity testing organization by NEMKO, a global certification body based in Norway, further solidifying its leadership in the digital industry.
President Sungil Ahn of KTC stated, "Through close cooperation with IITP, we will spare no effort in supporting our companies to enhance their technological and competitive capabilities in the field of digital transformation and lead industrial development."
