KTC and KIRIA Join Forces to Elevate Robotics Standardization and Certification Support Systems

Korea Testing Certification institute (KTC) and the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement (KIRIA), have officially announced the signing of a MOU aimed at enhancing standardization and certification support systems within the robotics sector.

On the 22nd, President Sungil Ahn of KTC and President Woong-Hee Shon of KIRIA convened at the KTC headquarters in Gunpo to formalize the MOU, marking a collaborative effort to advance "Standardization and Certification Support Systems" in the field of robotics.

The collaboration endeavors to establish a cooperative framework for bolstering the reliability of standardization and certification support systems in the realm of robotics, laying the foundation for mutual cooperation. Key focus areas include joint research on standardization, certification, and technological development in the robotics domain, leveraging the infrastructure of both organizations, facilitating professional exchange, and collectively contributing to the development of technical policies and the promotion of robotics-related business ventures.

President Woong-Hee Shon of KIRIA stated, "Domestic companies encounter challenges in product testing, certification, and regulatory compliance during the commercialization process. Through the collaborative efforts of both organizations, we aspire to provide companies with a more systematic foundation for technical support."

President Sungil Ahn of KTC remarked, "Through this agreement, our objective is to fortify the collaborative framework within the robotics sector and swiftly adapt to global industrial trends. By enhancing our competitiveness in the testing and certification industry through collaboration, we plan to offer a diverse range of testing and certification services tailored to robotics."

KIRIA, established under the "Promotion of Intelligent Robot Development and Deployment Act," operates as a public institution under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. It is tasked with policy development, supporting projects, and providing technical support, including standardization and testing/certification, in the field of robotics.

KTC, a globally acknowledged certification body, is at the forefront of driving the digital and green transformation of industries. It actively supports product safety and boosts the technological capabilities of businesses. Moreover, through its extensive network with major countries worldwide, KTC contributes to enhancing national export competitiveness by reducing overseas certification costs.
