KTC Strengthens Partnership with Yongsan Co., Ltd. to Enhance Competitiveness in Future Mobility

Korea Testing Certification institute (KTC), announced on the 6th of last month that it has entered into a business agreement with Yongsan Co., Ltd. to enhance technological competitiveness in the automotive parts and charging infrastructure sectors, aiming to improve the quality of the domestic mobility market.

At the signing ceremony held at Yongsan's Central Research Institute, the two organizations pledged to collaborate on activities such as the development and certification acquisition support for testing and evaluation methods for automotive parts and charging infrastructure, research and development of new technologies, and information exchange for technological advancement.

Yongsan Co., Ltd., a specialized manufacturer of automotive interior parts, supplies products to major domestic and international car manufacturers. The company holds the top market share in the domestic market for sun visors and develops and produces products in various fields, including interior materials, chassis, and EV charging infrastructure.

Driven by the government's eco-friendly policies, the cumulative registration of eco-friendly cars in the domestic market surpassed two million units last month. In response, domestic car manufacturers are expanding the production of electric and hydrogen cars, while parts manufacturers are focusing on developing related components to meet the growth in the eco-friendly car market.

However, electric cars account for over 40% of the cost, posing a challenge for parts manufacturers in cost reduction for interior materials and chassis products compared to traditional internal combustion engine vehicles. Additionally, challenges arise in the development of electronic technology for components and the associated durability and reliability assessment methods.

Through this business agreement, KTC plans to support the enhancement of Yongsan Co., Ltd.'s technological capabilities. As a leading comprehensive testing and certification organization in South Korea, KTC provides specialized testing and evaluation services in the field, along with international certification services. Since June, KTC has collaborated with Hyundai Motor Group to develop the EV Charging Quality Certification System (EV-Q) to verify the quality, performance, and reliability of EV chargers, thereby supporting the quality assurance of domestic charger manufacturers. With these technologies and expertise, Yongsan Co., Ltd. is poised to make significant strides in entering the charging infrastructure business.

Sungil Ahn, President of KTC, stated, "By combining KTC's specialized testing and certification services in the EV field with Yongsan Co., Ltd.,'s eco-friendly technologies, we will spare no effort to strengthen the competitiveness of our companies and lead industrial development."
