Catalyzing Technological Advancements: KTC and KPIA Forge Partnership to Boost Support for Advanced Industries

Korea Testing Certification institute (KTC) and the Korea Packaging Integration Association (KPIA) signed a business agreement on December 19 at KTC Gunpo Headquarters to expand support for companies in the advanced industry sector.

The term 'Packaging Integration(實裝)' refers to the integrated component technology to realize the functionality of a product. As a concept encompassing connections between components, assembly, packaging, and system design, industries such as semiconductors, digital convergence, electronic equipment for automobiles, and displays require advanced and highly integrated technology in the field of packaging intergration industry.

Through this agreement, both organizations pledged to collaborate on △establishing a cooperative system for securing technological capabilities in the advanced industry sector △joint planning of research projects, establishment of collaborative networks, and the creation of expert support systems △testing and certification consulting technical support for research and development companies in the materials, components, and equipment sectors △mutual utilization of infrastructure facilities possessed by both institutions △joint promotion of domestic and international standardization activities and seminars.

With the growing importance of the post-processing industry in the global leadership competition in the semiconductor market, the attention on packaging intergration industry technology has increased. The packaging market, corresponding to the post-processing of semiconductors, is expected to grow from $48.8 billion in 2020 to $64.9 billion in 2025.

KTC is actively supporting the improvement of technological capabilities and enhancement of global competitiveness for Korean companies in its 13th management strategy roadmap, consisting of digital transformation, green transformation, future growth, and nationally important industries. Particularly in various fields such as semiconductors, software, 5G, future mobility, robots, and AI, KTC is expanding certification and testing capabilities to provide product lifecycle support.

Sungil Ahn, President of KTC, stated, "The advanced industry is not only the future food source but also the core growth engine of the nation. In particular, post-processing and packaging intergration industry technology are essential elements of the semiconductor industry, characterized by miniaturization, high performance, and low power consumption." He further expressed, "Through the business agreement with KPIA, we will do our best to enhance the technological capabilities of our companies and revitalize the ecosystem of the semiconductor industry."
